The world pays tribute to Allan Pettersson who should
have turned 100 on 19 September.
Within one week (17 – 22 Sept) the Seventh Symphony will be performed by the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic in Concertgebouw Amsterdam, by the Staatsorchester Oldenburg in Germany and the Oslo Philharmonic in Norway. It will also be heard in a new recording by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra on BBC 3 on his birthday.
Other performances during this autumn will include the Violin Concerto (Rebekka Hartmann/Mittelsächsiche Philharmonie), Symphony No 6 (Norrköping SO), Barefoot Songs (Malmö SO), Concert No 1 for String Orchestra (Swedish Chamber Orchestra), Concerto for Violin and String Quartet (Yamei Yu/Leipziger Streichquartett), Duo Gelland (Seven Sonatas on US tour) etc.
An international Pettersson 100 Symposium will be held in Freiberg/Sachsen, Germany, on 3-4 November.
The Swedish Radio P2 will broadcast all 16 Symphonies (starting on 19 September) and two days dedicated to Allan Pettersson and his music will be arranged in the Högalid Church Stockholm on 1 – 2 October.
