Nana Forte (*1981) graduated in composition at the Music Academy in Ljubljana, continued her postgraduate studies at the Dresden University of Music Carl Maria von Weber before obtaining her Master's degree in composition from the University of Arts in Berlin (2009). Her list of works includes compositions for solo instruments, chamber music, orchestral music, opera and several pieces for choir. Since her early childhood she is deeply connected with choral music and her choir compositions are frequently performed by renowned choirs (Slovenian Philharmonic Choir, Swedish Radio Choir, Bavarian Radio Choir, Netherlands Radio Choir, World Youth Choir, The Norwegian Soloist's Choir, Allmänna Sången, Academic Choir Tone Tomšič University of Ljubljana, The Stockholms Musikgymnasium Chamber Choir, SYC Ensemble Singers, Kammerkoret NOVA, Gustaf Sjökvist Chamber Choir, Amsterdam Student Choir and others). Her composition Libera me for double mixed choir was obligatory piece in the finals of the 5th International Competition for Young Choral Conductors Europa Cantat in Ljubljana (2009) and in the final round of World Choral Conducting Competition 2019 in Hong Kong.
She has recently been exploring the field of opera and musical theatre. Her chamber opera debut Paradies oder nach Eden was premiered in Vorarlberger Landestheater Bregenz (2016). She lives and works in Slovenia.
