Ingvar Lidholm was a central figure in Swedish musical life. He belonged to the influential Monday Group, he was kapellmeister in Örebro, chamber music director at the Swedish Radio and worked for 10 years as a professor of composition the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. In his youth he traveled the world and met composers such as Ligeti, Berio, Lutoslawski, Stockhausen and Stravinsky. For more than seven decades, he was active and composed modern orchestral classics, innovative chamber music and epoch-making choral works, that today are performed world-wide.
