Ragnar Bohlin, Chief Conductor of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus

Ragnar Bohlin chooses... a riveder le stelle by Ingvar Lidholm

"Ingvar Lidholm's ...a riveder le stelle made a huge impact on me at a young age, both the mysterious content of the text and the grand symphonic music", says Ragnar Bohlin, Swedish chief conductor of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. "I believe it is one of the greatest choral pieces ever written. If we were to list the top ten pieces in the world, it would be on that list", he concludes.

Grammy award winning conductor Ragnar Bohlin was born in Uppsala, Sweden, and shares his time between Stockholm and San Francisco where he is Chief Conductor of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus as well as his own chamber choir Cappella SF, founded in 2014.

He studied choral conducting with the legendary Eric Ericson and voice with the great Swedish tenor Nicolai Gedda and has also appeared as an oratorio tenor. He regularly appears as guest conductor of choirs around the world, not least of course with the Swedish Radio Choir and the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir.

Ingvar Lidholm (1921-2017) is one of the classics of 20th century Swedish music. He was enormously influencial in both orchestral, chamber and choral music. For Eric Ericson and his ensembles, he wrote some of the most challenging, innovative and original choral works the world had ever seen or heard.
